The painter does not have the luxury of time that a musician has. A painting seizes a visual split second to connect what is perceived by the eyes with what is felt by the heart. My goal is to create a dynamic composition that travels thru the subject by means of color, texture, contrast and line until the more important passive process of simplification. This essence reveals the painting’s spirit and then, and only then, can the viewer begin their own personal journey.

 

biography

Tom Gass studied Fine Art at the College of Art and Design, Detroit and graduated from Parsons School of Design, NY, He has lectured at Parsons and was a critic at Fashion Institute of Technology NY. Previous to turning his main focus on oil painting, his vast scope of award-winning work in interior design was featured internationally for more than forty years.

His paintings have been well received in juried shows and galleries in Bucks County, PA and he continues to broaden his personal scope of work, while completing commissions and murals.
